While fall is still technically a few weeks away, this cool weather has got us all a little excited. If you’re ready to start making plans for the perfect fall here in Southwest Georgia, this article is for you!

Fall is a great time to enjoy the outdoors here in Southwest Georgia because it’s not quite so hot. If you’re looking for a great way to get outside and get some exercise, you can find local walking paths and area hiking here. Check out a local festival or farmer’s market.
Opening day of the Tifton Farmers Market is October 4th in downtown Tifton, and we are so ready! In addition, there are several local events and festivals happening this fall, and they can be a great way to enjoy the season. Some of the ones we’re super excited about are:
- Fiesta Del Pueblo in Tifton (September 27th)
- Georgia National Fair in Perry (October 2-12th)
- Honeybee Festival in Hahira (October 4th)
- Sunbelt Ag Expo in Moultrie (October 14th-16th)
- Georgia Peanut Festival in Sylvester (October 18th)
- Berrien County Harvest Festival in Nashville (October 18th)
- Sweet Potato Festival in Ocilla (October 25th)
- ARToberfest in Valdosta (October 25th)
- Arts Affair in Downtown Tifton (November 1st)
- The Heart of Albany Festival at AMA (November 15th)
- Artfest in Moultrie (November 22nd)

Nothing really says fall in Southwest Georgia quite like Friday night football, and both Tift County and Tiftarea have a great schedule. You can find their game information here.
Have fun on the farm.
Here in Southwest Georgia, we have lots of great local farms, and fall is the perfect time to enjoy them! It’s starting to cool off, and there is so much fall fun to be had.
Rutland Farms
Here in Tifton, we have Rutland Farms, which can be fun to visit even when it’s not fall with their playground, petting zoo, and yummy homemade ice cream. However, starting September 29th, they will have a pumpkin patch and corn maze. You can visit these attractions throughout the week, or enjoy one of their Saturday Fall Festivals, which will run every Saturday from October 4th-November 1st. The Fall Festivals will have all the regular fall fun along with hay rides, bounce houses, and more. Admission for the Fall Festivals is $14 a person, with a senior discount and children 2 and under are free with a paid adult.
Calhoun Produce
In Ashburn, you can check out Calhoun’s Produce for lots of fun on the farm! Calhoun Produce has a large playground, homemade ice cream, a honeybee house, and more! Their corn maze will open October 1st, and every Saturday from October 4th-November 1st, they will have Fall Fun on the Farm with wagon rides, pic races, a jump pad, duck race, and corn maze. Admission is $12, but children two and under are free.
A&M Farms
If you’re in Sylvester, you’ll want to check out A&M Farms for all their farm fun! Their first Family Fun Out On The Farm will be on September 27th and will feature inflatables, a playground, zipline, tractor ride, mechanical bull, rock climbing wall, bungee jump trampoline, sling shots, outside bowling, disc golf, basketball, petting zoo, and more. The cost of admission is $15.
Fancy Girl Farms
Fancy Girl Farms in Hahira is another great place to check out if you’re looking for fall fun on the farm. This Saturday (September 13th), they will have their first annual fall open house with a pumpkin patch. You can check out their farm to table restaurant, coffee shop, garden, and retail shop anytime though!
Mark’s Melon Patch
Mark’s Melon Patch in Sasser is another great place to visit for farm fun this fall. They have a large playground, petting zoo, and large farm stand throughout the week, but you can enjoy a corn maze, special events, hayride, pumpkin patch, corn cannon, jump pad and inflatables, pumpkin bowling, pumpkin painting, and special night time activities like s’mores and family movies. Camp Rock
While it’s not technically a farm, Camp Rock in Valdosta will have some farm like fun this fall with their Fall Days at Camp Rock every Saturday from October 4th-November 1st. While you’re there, you can enjoy hay rides, Petting zoo, skating, axe throwing, pumpkin spiced treats, and more for just $10 a person (kids 5 and under are free). And as an added bonus, your money will be supporting a great cause!

There are a few fun fall shows coming up right here in Tifton that are perfect for Fall and Halloween! The first Is a special movie night in Fulwood Park on October 17th at 5:00 pm. This is a free community event with a screening of Toy Story and a special meet and greet with Woody and Jessie. Kids can come dressed in their Halloween costumes and enjoy children’s activities and local food trucks before the movie screening starts at dark. The Tift Theatre for the Performing Arts will also have a special Halloween themed performance called “Something Wicked This Way Sings” with shows on October 24th (7:00 pm), October 25th (7:00 pm), and October 26th (3:00 pm). You can expect to hear songs and musical numbers inspired by your favorite witches and villains just in time for Halloween. Tickets are $11.82 for adults, $9.54 for kids ages 6-17, and free for kids five and under. They can be purchased here.
Trick or Treat.
It wouldn’t be fall without Halloween trick or treating! We are putting together a list of all your local trunk or treats, fall festivals, and other trick or treating opportunities, so keep an eye out for in the next few weeks!
Get scared.
