The holiday season is upon us, and whether you have a train loving child or are just looking for something to make the holidays special, a themed holiday train can be such a fun time for the whole family. In this article, we’ll go over some train rides that are two hours or less from Tifton that you and your family are sure to enjoy.
North Pole Express at GMA (Tifton)
If you’re looking for a fun holiday train ride, you don’t even have to leave Tifton! The Georgia Museum of Agriculture offers their North Pole Express every year to Tifton and surrounding communities. At this event, you’ll be able to ride the open-air train, hear a special story, and enjoy a visit with Santa in a relaxed and calm environment. There’s also hot chocolate and cookies as well as a bell for each child. The event will be offered December 3-6th and December 10-13th. Their tickets are on sale now for $20 plus taxes and fees, with children 2 and up needing a ticket. You can purchase tickets here.

Azalea Sprinter Santa Train (Nashville, 30 minutes away)
There is also a special Santa Train that departs from Nashville as well. You will get a chance to meet Santa and unlimited hot cocoa on the two hour round trip. This will be offered on December 13th and December 20th with morning and afternoon options. Prices start at $38 for children 2-18 (under two are free) and go up from there. SAM Shortline (Cordele, 45 minutes away)
Another local option is the SAM Shortline Holiday Train that departs from Cordele. This train ride is a one hour round trip holiday train for children. Santa will be on board and give out a gift for each passenger, plus there’s holiday music, hot chocolate, and cookies. This year they have options for December 12th, 13th, 19th, and 20th. Tickets start at $17 for children 2-12 (under two are free) and go up from there. You can learn more or purchase tickets here.

Georgia Coastal Railway (Kingsland, 2 hours away)
While it is a little bit more of a drive, there is also a holiday train option in Kingsland, Georgia with the Georgia Coastal Railway. On this ride, you’ll get a chance to meet Santa, Mrs. Claus, Santa’s Elves, Frosty the Snowman, and more on the open air ride. There are multiple dates for this train option, starting with November 28th and running through Christmas Eve, with multiple times for each day. The price starts at $12.50 plus tax and fees for children 3-12 (two and under are free) for the open-air option and goes up from there with options to rent out an entire caboose (closed in) starting at $350 plus taxes and fees.
