It’s no secret that prices of everything are going up, including the price of eating out and food in general. It’s still nice to do something fun with your kids every once in a while though, or just have a night where you don’t have to think about what’s for dinner. That’s where today’s article comes in! We have put together a list of local restaurants that offer free or reduced kids meals, so you can still have some fun and a night off cooking without breaking the bank.

Your Pie

Your Pie here in Tifton, located at 2210 US Highway 41 North, has kid’s night every Wednesdays! With the purchase of an adult entrée, your child eats free for dine-in meals starting at 4:00 pm every Wednesday. Each kids’ meal comes with an entrée (either a 7-inch pizza or kid’s portion of penne pasta) with their desired sauce and up to two toppings, a scoop of gelato, and a small drink.

Pizza Hut

Every Tuesday, Pizza Hut has $2 personal pan pizzas! While this size is perfect for the kiddos, it’s not limited to just them this time! You can order up to six personal pan pizzas, all one topping each, for carryout only. The Pizza Hut in Tifton is located at 1909 US-82 Suite 7.

Golden Corral

Kids three and under eat free every day at Golden Corral! That can make a big difference for parents of toddlers who seem to always be hungry. Plus, all the options at Golden Corral make it a great choice for picky eaters because there’s bound to be something they’ll eat. The Golden Corral in Tifton is located at 190 S Virginia Avenue.

Chili’s

If you join the My Chili’s Rewards program, you can earn free kids’ meals! And if your child has outgrown the kid’s menu, Chili’s 3 for $10 is another great, cheap option for older kids (or adults).

Other Eating Out Savings Tips

Even if it’s not a free kid’s meal, there are other ways you can save when you eat out. Some of the top ways to do this include:

  • Download the restaurant’s app: McDonald’s Chick-fil-A, Zaxby’s, and other popular restaurants have apps where you can earn points towards your next purchase.
  • Join their Rewards program: Other restaurants like Chili’s, Olive Garden, Longhorn’s, and more have rewards programs you can sign up for with your email and/or phone number to get special deals like a free appetizer or dessert and other promotions they may be running.
  • Scan your receipts on Fetch: Fetch is an app where you can scan receipts from any purchase to earn points you can use towards a gift card. Sign up with my referral code here.
  • Pay attention to weekly specials and deals: Many restaurants, both local ones and chains, offer weekly specials, and you can save money by sticking to those, rather than a regular entrée. Other ways to save with this strategy might be taking advantage of their lunch specials or happy hour deals.
  • Buy discounted gift cards: Around the holidays, many restaurants offer “bonus” gift cards if you spend a certain amount of money. For example, you may get a $10 bonus gift card if you spend $50. If you can afford to, stocking up a little around these special times can save you money in the long run.
  • Split a meal: The portions at restaurants are known for being big, so often you can split plates up (especially between an adult and a smaller child) for some cost savings. To give two examples, at Asahi, we always order two plates and an extra side of veggies for four people (one pre-teen and one toddler). At Zaxby’s, we usually order two of the sauce boxes for four people, or me and my two older children share the largest chicken finger plate.
  • Look for family style meals: More and more restaurants are offering family style options, which can often be cheaper than an individual meal for each person. Chick-fil-A, Zaxby’s, Surchero’s, Panera, Burger King, McDonald’s, and other restaurants offer this option. Just make sure to price compare to make sure you’re really getting the best deal!
  • Skip the extras: Drinks, appetizers, desserts, and other extras are nice, but you can still have a great dinner out without them. And your bill will likely be a lot cheaper without them!
