Homeschooling your children is becoming a much more popular choice for many parents. The pandemic inspired many parents to choose homeschooling, and the number of parents who are homeschooling continues to grow even five years after the start of the pandemic. Even if you feel sure of your decision to homeschool, if you have no experience with homeschooling before pulling your child out of school, it can be very overwhelming and support from other like-minded parents can make a world of difference. That’s why today’s article goes over homeschool groups and co-ops here in Tifton.
CHESS Academy
If you are new to homeschooling and looking for an option that offers a lot of support and structure, CHESS (Christian Home Education and Student Support) Academy could be a good option. Not exactly a homeschool group or official co-op, CHESS is a homeschool tutoring program designed to partner with families in the homeschool experience. Students go three days a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. If you choose to have your child tutored in all subjects, it will be a half day, but you can also pick and choose how many subjects you would like for them to take. The campus in Ty Ty takes students in grades 3rd-12th, but the Fitzgerald Campus offers classes from K-12 grades. It offers a Christ-centered and family-friendly approach to homeschooling focusing on three key areas: classical, Christian, and community. There is a local group that offers informational meetings periodically, as well as groups in Moultrie, Hahira, Valdosta, Albany, and other local cities. Homeschool Hangout
Tifton-Tift County Public Library offers a homeschool group once a week during the regular school year on Fridays at 10 am. The meeting usually lasts an hour or so, and all ages are welcome. Each week there is an educational activity designed for the children, and while this group is not designed to serve as a curriculum or structured homeschool program, it can be a great place for you to meet other homeschool parents and learn from them as well as a place for your child to make friends.
